Thanksgiving books – Des livres sur Thanksgiving

Here are some books we have explored for Thanksgiving !

Thanksgiving 8ici

The first one is designed for little ones with his bright colours, simple sentences and flaps to lift ! My 6 years old boy liked it because he was able to read it independently. He liked the colourful illustrations a lot !

The second book is from one of our favourite publisher, Scholastic. My 7 years old boy liked the story a lot and all the facts he learnt about the Pilgrims, their travel, their very tough way of life when arriving in America… He also was very sensitive to the Native American’s generosity and said about the Pilgrims: « They managed to survive thanks to a good team work and the Indians’ knowledge and kindness ! »

I liked the way the book is divided in Winter, Spring, Summer and finally Thanksgiving so the children can have a clear picture of the events spread along a time line.

Thanksgiving 7ici

This is a great book to share with the children over Thanksgiving ! The illustrations are beautiful ! And this first Thanksgiving from Squanto’s point of view is really interesting. We have learnt a lot of instructive things about his history and the pilgrims.

As we do for our Christmas books, we will add 1 or 2 books about this celebration each year so this list of books will grow year after year. See you next year for more reading about Thanksgiving !

Happy Thanksgiving and happy reading !
